Less an anti-war song than a toilet-eye view of the political and social quagmire of our little Middle East "situation" -- polarity/1 says it like it is. "Seventy Virgins" refers to the fantasy that suicide bombers will be rewarded for their martyrdom by being greeted in heaven by a chorus line of 70 virgins. What historical and political forces contributed to such despair in that region? The USA did not create this. But it sure lent a helping hand. And democracy was not the goal.

WE ARE FAMILY PROJECT, a callout for ethnic tolerance after Sept. 11. His hit song, "We Are Family," was rerecorded with many of Rodgers' friends on hand (Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Dionne Warwick, Angelique Kidjo, etc.). The mix was released on an album of remixes on Tommy Boy.
